A History of Excellence

From modest beginnings more than 100 years ago as a 37-bed hospital housed in a converted private home, Miami Valley Hospital has grown to an 827-bed regional referral and specialty center.

With a medical staff of more than 1,200 physicians representing 50 primary, specialty and subspecialty fields of medicine, MVH is the Dayton area's largest and most comprehensive hospital. Patients benefit from services provided at the hospital's main campus and at satellite locations throughout the Dayton area.

Miami Valley Hospital continually strives for excellence. In 2002, MVH received a seventh consecutive Consumer Choice Award from the National Research Corporation. Also in 2002, MVH earned its fifth consecutive Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations survey with excellent scores, putting us in the top 10 percent of all hospitals surveyed. No other hospital in Ohio has matched this distinction in consecutive commendation awards.

Miami Valley Hospital has also teamed up with Good Samaritan Hospital to form Premier Health Partners.  This partnership was designed so the hospitals could work together to deliver high quality health care — at the best value — for the Greater Dayton area.

Since its founding in 1890, the hospital's management has been directed by a board of Dayton-area men and women chosen for their business and civic leadership.
