Mission Statement
![]()
The Mission of St. Colman's home can be defined simply and succinctly: to improve the quality of life for each child whom we serve. Through the use of modern educational, therapeutic, and behavior modification techniques and methods, all of our programs seek to provide each child and each family with an individually tailored program, specifically designed to meet the needs of that family. Whether in our Day Care Center, our Group Homes, our Residential Programs for Autistic & Emotionally Challenging Children or in any of our other programs, each of our children is accorded the dignity, the respect and the support which he or she deserves, and each child is encouraged to achieve his or her maximum potential. This philosophy is reflected by both our Sisters and our lay staff: in our actions, in our attitudes and in our achievements. The sense of community which is the hallmark of the Sisters of the Presentation, and to which they have devoted their lives, permeates all of the programs at St. Colman's Home. This sense of community has led easily to the 'team approach' which is so highly valued at St. Colman's Home, a team of clinical, educational and child care professionals devoted to the service of the children with whom they have been entrusted. This trust is not taken lightly; it is an obligation which all of the staff, lay and Sisters, values strongly and sincerely and this belief is reflected in all of the work which is now being performed at St. Colman's Home. St. Colman's rich tradition of service to children, spanning over one hundred years, will continue into the next century and beyond, carrying forth the work begun by the Sisters and lay staff who laid the foundation many years ago for the institution which St. Colman's Home has become today.
