Fareportal was founded in 2002 by Sam Jain. Fareportal was initially envisioned as a technology company, providing web-based portals and management tools for the travel industry through a proprietary software engine booking technology. As the Company evolved, it became clear that the major market opportunity for our technology was in a proprietary Internet based travel web site similar to Expedia, Travelocity and Orbitz. As part of this strategy Fareportal now provides technology support to a number of web sites.
The Fareportal technology was developed and designed entirely in house, with net-fare databases that are very sophisticated and unique in the travel industry. It has many reporting features and a sophisticated online tracking system that assists in targeted online marketing. All of Fareportal's technology is entirely designed on .NET Framework portal, which enables private labeling and therefore makes it convenient to create affiliated programs. The technology also includes features that allow us to set complex markups, discounts, opaque fares and auto ticketing, and enhances fulfillment of air, car and hotel reservations. New features we are planning to add to the booking engine include: auto date changes, auto cancellations, infant tickets, auto schedule change notification and Passenger Name Record (PNR) import.
A key element of the Fareportal Technology is an innovative and unique capacity to integrate with each of the leading Global Distribution Systems (GDS), Sabre, Galileo and Amadeus, for air, car and hotel reservations. Systems are in place with Sabre and Amadeus and the Galileo system is nearing beta testing. Access to the three GDS’s gives the Fareportal system a unique competitive advantage among its peers in the online travel industry. The Fareportal technology is also capable of managing consolidator rates, as well as net rates from multiple sources. These capabilities enable the web sites utilizing the Fareportal technology to offer a large and diverse selection of travel options for end users to choose from.
Fareportal’s technology also encompasses features that allow net hotel content combined with airlines to establish direct XML feed for booking directly into the respective inventory systems, with full reporting and transaction management features.X
