EEC Programs and Headstart:

The Head Start program offers education, nutritional, health and social services to preschool children, including special needs children from limited income families. In addition, information, referral and parent education services are provided.

Classes are held five (5) days a week, September through May with regular school vacations. Some classrooms operate from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the school year and some all day all year programs are available. Some sliding fee early education classrooms are available for children whose families are not income eligible for Head Start.

FOOD RESOURCES

In 2002, the South Shore Community Action Council, Inc. (SSCAC) formed the Greater Plymouth Food Resource Group (GPFRG), a network of over twenty food assistance programs.

GPFRG’s ultimate goal is to get more nutritious food to more hungry people in a more cost-effective way through coordinated food pick-up, transport, storage and distribution.

FUEL ASSISTANCE

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), more commonly known as the Fuel Assistance Program, provides low income households with help in paying heating bills.

To apply you must bring the following three types of information to a staffed SSCAC Intake Site:

• Proof of Income

• Proof of Identity

• Proof of Street Address

Intake sites are located throughout the South Shore, Cape Cod and the Islands.

South Shore Community Action Council provides Transportation Services for eligible residents to:

• Adult Day Health Programs

• Dialysis

• Doctor and Dental Visits

Non-Emergency Hospital Visits

• Shopping Trips

• Social/Recreational Events

• Employment/Welfare to Work Programs

• Educational Facilities

• Metro Boston hospitals and other medical facilities

Transportation is available by appointment only Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Saturdays are reserved for medical necessity only from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
