Everyone Deserves Independence
Founded in 1991, Disability Services of the Southwest (DSSW) is one of the largest providers of support services to people with disabilities and the elderly in the State of Texas. Our services include personal attendant services, nursing and therapies, as well as assistance in home modification, adaptive aids, job coaching and supported employment.
DSSW is licensed by the state to provide a wide range of services to persons with disabilities including Community Living Assistance and Support Services (CLASS), Consumer Directed Services (CDS), Deaf-Blind with Multiple Disabilities (DBMD), as well as private pay care for the elderly and people with disabilities.
Our Mission: Independence
DSSW is dedicated to helping people reach this freedom by providing the highest quality and most cost-effective support services for persons with disabilities and the elderly. We want to be the bridge that enables someone to stay in their community and with their family and friends.
We support community integration. We promote an open forum on questions regarding autonomy and quality of life issues that affect persons with disabilities and the elderly. Our care team consists of experienced individuals with the capability for compassion that allows them to help each of our clients.
Code of Ethical Conduct
The policy of Disability Services of the Southwest is to provide the highest level of care to our clients. Our ethical standards do not leave our employees any room for activities which do not exemplify high moral and professional conduct.
DSSW has policies in place to fully comply with both the intent and the spirit of the laws and regulations which govern the programs we administer. We expect our employees to use good judgment in applying the highest standards. We also expect them to refrain from any form of illegal, dishonest or unethical behavior.
All our employees are issued a Code of Conduct when they begin working with us, and they are required to be familiar with this Code and to comply with all aspects of it.
Client Rights
Our goal is to provide our clients with the services which allow the highest possible quality of life and independence. To reach this goal, we must assure the integrity of the people, the processes and the assets needed and enhance them where possible. A part of that process is to provide avenues which allow individuals to report a problem.
If this problem might be considered abuse, neglect or exploitation, the number to call is the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services hotline at 1-800-252-5400.
If this is a complaint about the agency or agency staff, call your direct services agency or your case manager. This will result in an investigation which follows precise state regulations. Another alternative is to call the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services.
