About Us:
For more than 135 years, the Sarah A. Reed Children's Center has been known and respected for high quality treatment of traumatized and "at risk" children throughout Erie County, the state of Pennsylvania, and beyond. We offer a full continuum of care for children and families. We are committed to creating a safe, therapeutic and healing environment to promote positive changes, resiliency and success. Our entire organization, from direct care to administration has committed to adopting the Sanctuary Model of trauma informed care.
The Sanctuary Model:
Sanctuary Model provides our trauma informed treatment philosophy. We are committed to creating a non-violent, democratic and productive community to restore children's sense of safety and self-efficacy. Sanctuary has been effective with both children and adults across a range of human service organizations, including residential treatment centers and public and private schools.
Sarah Reed has the distinction of being the first human services organization established in Erie County. Since 1871, the Sarah Reed organization has continuously provided help and support to Erie County children and families in need through school based, residential and community programs.
