Bakersfield Memorial Hospital was founded as the result of a public campaign, organized in the early 1950's, to build a community medical facility for the City of Bakersfield, Kern County and the San Joaquin Valley. As our community has grown over time, so has our ability to serve it. We currently maintain a 367-bed facility serving the residents of one of the fastest growing areas in California. Our community roots are reflected in the 'Most Preferred Hospital' rating we?ve received three years in a row based on independent research. On the national stage we?re honored to be one of the nations 'Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospitals', as rated by Solucient.
To reflect the growing needs of our community, and further support our nonprofit mission-based philosophy, we joined the Catholic Healthcare West family in 1996. Today, we offer a comprehensive range of best-in-class healthcare services, ranging from our Family Birth Center to our Behavioral Health facility (Memorial Center) and our Central California Heart Institute. Several of our programs have consistently received national recognition for clinical outcomes, quality of care and patient satisfaction. We?re pleased to say that our employees' careers have grown in pace with our numerous technological and medical advances.
