Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY
Accountable for the quality control and assurance of all materials and products used or manufactured at our Rittman, Ohio Facility. Ensures compliance to company, customer, and regulatory agency quality requirements. Oversees the implementation of Quality policies, Quality Control personnel, and the Quality Control laboratory for all Pharmaceutical, Food, Agricultural, and Chemical Grade sodium chloride products.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountabilities
• Accountable and responsible for finished product quality sampling, inspection, testing, and disposition
• Accountable and responsible for in-process material sampling, inspection, testing, and disposition
• Accountable and responsible for incoming raw, chemical, and packaging material sampling, inspection, testing, and disposition
• Accountable and responsible for conducting interal and supplier quality audits
• Accountable and responsible for associate talent development, training, & competencies
• Accountable and responsible for QAR investigation, root cause analysis, corrective/preventative action, CAPA follow-up, and response
• Accountable and responsible for the generation and distribution of COAs & COCs
• Accountable and responsible for communicating quality associated regulatory and specification requirements
• Accountable for industrial and consumer complaint investigation and response
• Accountable and responsible for no-charge sample distribution
• Accountable and responsible for plant level analytical and technical services
• Accountable and responsible for management of the quality control analytical laboratory
• Accountable and responsible for product / process deviation investigation and report generation
• Accountable for food safety and food security regulatory compliance
• Accountable and responsible for customer and Sales technical support and services (customer surveys, general inquiries, questionnaires,...)
• Accountable and responsible for facility level quality system design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement
• Accountable and responsible for facility quality system and regulatory compliance employee training
• Accountable and responsible for the coordination of and response to customer, corporate, and regulatory quality audits of the Operations Facility
• Accountable and responsible for quality department general administration (scheduling, personnel, budget management, report generation, performance reviews, equipment/supply orders...)
• Accountable and responsible for CAR project Quality review and approval
• Accountable for safe work practices for the Quality Department at our site
Responsibilities
• Responsible for returned product, scrap, nonconforming material
• Responsible for conformance to applicable product quality specification requirements (internal, customer, USP, FCC, ACS,)
• Responsible for conformance to applicable industrial and government regulatory agency quality requirements (AIB, FDA, FPA, et cetera)
• Responsible for compliance to corporate safety program requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or other related field.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience operating in a production packaging environment.
• Minimum ten (10) years in Quality management in the food or pharmaceutical industry
• Minimum ten (10) years supervisory experience
• Knowledge of GMPs in the food and pharmaceutical industries
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Computer proficient
• Minimum three (3) years of Supervisory experience


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
• Possesses knowledge of technical information on the unit/area.
• Demonstrates background knowledge of operating procedure and process.


KEY INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS
• Requires daily contact with employees in other departments.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Normal working schedule is daylight shift - flexible schedule and overtime may be required.
• Responds to urgent or emergency situations outside of normal working hours, as needed.
• Works in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time. May perform sustained manual activities at moderate to heavy levels of exertion including lifting and moving loads of a minimum of fifty (50) pounds, climbing ladders/stairs and working on elevated platforms. Uses hand tools and operates fixed and mobile plant equipment. Works and travels throughout plant environment of varied temperatures and humidity. Wears personal protective equipment, as required and uses full range of motion.
• Performs duties in confined space entries.
• Works in general office and manufacturing plant environment.
