Description: Philadelphia based Fortune 500 company is seeking a high potential Senior Accountant that is interested in becoming an Accounting Manager! The Senior opening is a new opening due to growth. This is a unique opportunity to work with an outstanding group of accounting professionals in an expanding department. The position reports to a former Big-4 CPA who is interested in mentoring the right candidate.

This Senior is responsible for ad hoc analysis and special projects. Other work will include monthly close process, daily control activities, reconciliations, preparation of journal uploads, and monthly settlement of inter-company accounts. Utilization of general accounting and financial principles and techniques, and the understanding of work flow.

Duties:


* Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
* Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.
* Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts; preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
* Summarizes financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
* Completes external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts; providing information for auditors.
* Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
* Secures financial information by completing database backups.
* Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
