Sutter Davis Hospital is a not-for-profit, 48-bed acute care hospital with a strong outpatient focus. The present facility, a 94,000-square-foot building that anchors a 20-acre medical campus, opened in 1994 after a five-year planning process that included extensive employee and community involvement. The original building was established in1968 as a for-profit hospital owned by physicians. Sutter Health purchased the hospital in 1981 to ensure residents of Yolo County would continue to have quality care into the future. Sutter Davis Hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The RN has primary accountability for patient outcomes.

Education: Graduate of a school of nursing. Current California RN licensure or interim permit to practice registered nursing. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Experience: Acute care experience is preferred.

Knowledge: Demonstrate basic medical/surgical nursing skills. Demonstrate effective written and verbal communications skills. Demonstrate basic knowledge of unit specific age criteria for patient population is preferred.

Special Skills/Equipment: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification "for health care provider." Self-directed in coordinating the care plan for patient care delivery. Completion of hospital orientation the RN must be able to: Demonstrates skill and knowledge of Accudata. Demonstrate knowledge of phlebotomy (i.e., venipuncture/capillary puncture). Demonstrate knowledge of community resources, legal policies relating to patient decisions and outcomes. Demonstrate skill and knowledge in the use of oxygen/respiratory delivery devices. Demonstrate knowledge of starting peripheral IV lines and pass hospital pharmacy/IV exam. Demonstrate skills in delegation, leadership and team management concepts. Demonstrate knowledge of the performance standards of other nursing team members. Demonstrates skill and knowledge of blood transfusions.

Unit specific:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of a 12- lead EKG.
  • Demonstrate competency in central line specimen collection.
  • Respiratory Nebulizer Treatments.
  • Care of patient with a chest tube
  • Airway Management
