Athletic Director: Western Oregon University
Western Oregon University is seeking an Athletic Director. This is a full-time, 12-month, annually renewable position in the Athletics Department. WOU is a NCAA Division II member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference competing in 13 team sports: Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Track and Field, Cross Country, and Softball and Men’s Baseball, Basketball, Football, Track and Field, and Cross Country. Located in Monmouth , Oregon near Salem , WOU is a school of over 5,000 students and is one of the seven universities in the publically funded Oregon University System. WOU is the only Division II NCAA program in State. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Salary will be competitive and will commensurate with experience.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is required. Masters degree is preferred. The successful candidate will have DI or DII level coaching experience in one of the women’s or men’s team sports offered at WOU. Fundraising experience is required. The position also requires a working knowledge of NCAA governance, policy, and compliance issues for DII schools.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Athletic Director reports to the University President and is responsible for overseeing the Institution’s intercollegiate athletics program, maintaining a program that is consistent with the academic ideals of the University, and is in conformity with the rules, regulations, and policies of the University, the NCAA, and its athletic conference. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the supervision of coaches and staff members of the athletic department, management of the athletics budget, representing the University on the GNAC management council, and extensive work with alumni, students, and other university supporters.
