Tech Support Engineer II

GENERAL SUMMARY
Applies general systems level technical expertise to standard to moderately complex systems level customer issues. Customer issues may be received by Support Centers through automated dial-homes, voice initiated technical calls from EMC Customers, Customer Engineers, or remote maintenance calls and Web Support Calls. Identifies and provides resolutions to an assortment of technical problems. Provides validated technical information, support process instructions and special support requirements to the customer base. Engineers provide problem determination and resolution for customer issues. Develop and implement resolutions to identified problems, and follows standard practices and procedures. Identifies, records and proactively revises current procedures and tools to improve customer satisfaction. May need to engage or escalate to more senior resources to resolve more complex issues.

Responsibilities:

· Providing application support for multiple mission-critical production 3 tiers environments.

· Assist in the support of tools and processes to improve and automate system operation.

Job Requirements:

· At least two years experience in a similar position.

· Experience in E-Commerce systems architecture and IT operations - Advantage.

· Unix/scripts hands-on experience of at least 2 years including scripting (KSH/BASH/PERL etc…)

· Good SQL knowledge and experience (Oracle, MySQL)

· Experience working in web environment (better 3 tiers) of at least 2 years

· Experience managing tasks and projects

· Programming experience (Java/C++/JSP) - Advantage

· Knowledge in network services (DNS, DHCP, NFS, SMTP, NTP, SSH, and Samba) and networking equipment configuration (Routers, Switches, Load balancers etc.),

Qualifications:

· Customer service oriented

· Ability to work well under pressure within a technically challenging environment.

· Ability to work non-conventional hours according to support needs.

· Responsible.

· Well Organized.
