Master Black Belt, Lean Six Sigma: Sutter Health

Sutter Health Support Services (SHSS) is the Support Center for the Sutter Health affiliates, which houses all non-medical support departments that are not provided at the affiliates. It provides expertise and guidance to support affiliate functional departments. Position serves as a Lean Six Sigma expert coach, instructor and tool/methodology innovator for Sutter Health system. Coaches system Initiative Leaders (e.g. SVPs) and regional/affiliate executives (e.g. REOs, CEOs, A-team members) on Lean Six Sigma Management system elements, including project selection, belt candidate selection, learning through certification, and remedy replication. Includes coaching executives, belts in training, and team members to a) diagnose dashboard gaps; b) influencing the application of appropriate Lean Sigma methods that ensuring realization of short, medium, and multi-year dashboard goals. Primary responsibility for development, updating and delivery of Lean Six Sigma curriculum, including phase-gate review approval, project tracking and certification board leadership. Teaches and coaches executives (CEOs), other Master Black Belts in Training; Black Belts in Training; Green Belts in Training and team members. Participates as a member of the Sutter University Certification Board to review, coach and ultimately award Green, Black Belt and Master Black Belt Certifications. Innovates improvements to traditional LSS methods, tools, and training.
· Education:
Certified Master Black Belts are strongly preferred, and others are unlikely to be successful in the role. Graduate-level business, healthcare, industrial engineering, industrial psychology and related fields are preferred.

· Experience:
Prior experience coaching, teaching and applying Lean Six Sigma as a Master Black Belt in various industries including in a transactional environment is required. Healthcare either in Acute or Ambulatory settings preferred.

· Knowledge:
This individual must have a comprehensive understanding of business management systems with experience in the business of health care delivery, and have previous skill in teaching and coaching leaders without formal authority.

· Special Skills/Equipment:
Must have expert knowledge and skill of both Lean Six Sigma toolsets (DMAIC and DMADV) along with advanced Master Black Belt tools and techniques. Strong interest and ability to teach complex statistical, quality, leadership & change management topics is essential. Skill in coaching in on-the-job application of new skills is also critical Will use appropriate Black Belt and lean tools including Minitab, Crystal Ball, Statistica and other Lean Six Sigma software.
