Position Overview:
As a Senior Supplier Development Engineer in the Strategic Sourcing Department, Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) Group, you will support all printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) transfers and new product development (NPD) activities to ensure a high degree of manufacturability and testability of PCBA's as well as drive continuous improvement and supplier development initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
In this key individual contributor role, you will be the primary Manufacturing Engineering support for all PCBA transfers between Contract Manufacturers (CM's) as well as provide input and guidance to the NPD teams for any new PCBA's. You will apply your knowledge of PCBA manufacturing processes and industry standards to ensure a high level of manufacturability and quality is obtained at Welch Allyn's CM's. You will also assist in the development of robust assembly and test processes at Welch Allyn's CM's. In addition, you will take a lead role in the development of a standardized process for PCBA / component qualification and CM performance metrics. You will lead LEAN (continuous improvement, supplier development and cost reduction) initiatives with CM's. To this end, you will maintain a core competency of PCB / PCBA process knowledge (subject matter expert) and benchmark EMS capabilities worldwide.
Required Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations or equivalent technical degree, coupled with solid experience in PCBA design, manufacturing and test. Knowledge of PCB fabrication and assembly techniques and IPC specifications is a must. Candidate must also possess excellent project management skills, communication skills and problem solving skills. Knowledgeable in LEAN concepts and implementation is strongly desired. This position will be located in either Skaneateles Falls, New York or our Beaverton, Oregon facility. Travel both domestic and international will be approximately 35-40%.
