The New York Racing Association seeks a Vice President of Engineering
 
About Us:
The New York Racing Association is a private, non-profit association that owns and operates the three largest racetracks in New York : Aqueduct, Belmont Park and Saratoga . Last year, more than two million people attended the races at NYRA tracks and enjoyed the finest quality of thoroughbred racing in the world.
At Aqueduct in Ozone Park, Queens, construction is planned for the addition of a casino with 4,500 Video Lottery Terminals (such as video poker, video slot machines, etc.).
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the VP of Engineering will:

Provide technical leadership skills with demonstrated ability to work within a complex, multi -venue environment

Major contributor in the development of both tactical and strategic plans associated with the plant and facility. Manage all engineering projects from concept through fulfillment

Assume primary responsibility for the implementation of all engineering projects and capital improvement plans.

Work within organization to develop project costs and timelines and associated management and tracking systems

Develop and build relationships with industry professionals (designers, architects, general contractors, tradesmen, organized labor leaders, etc)
The ideal candidate will possess:
-
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering

5+ years relevant experience including: scope of work development, budget, project and resource planning and implementation of large scale commercial and/or industrial projects

Working knowledge of CAD technology
-
Demonstrated superior verbal and written communication skills
-
In depth understanding of New York State building codes

Working knowledge of engineering disciplines pertaining to: construction methods and materials, applicable building code, and regulatory compliance matters

Working knowledge of the principles of Project Management and conversant in the utilization of computerized project management systems such as MS Project or its equivalent

Prior experience working with organized labor
