Trader Joe's Experienced Retail Managers Wanted! What a difference. Hawaiian shirts to work? Definitely more comfortable than a business suit and tie. And that'll be your dress code at Trader Joe's. Say goodbye to the same old, same old. Say hi to Trader Joe's. Your favorite neighborhood grocery store, born in Southern California and now operating over 300 stores in 25 states. Create the fun. It's up to you at Trader Joe's. No one will be micromanaging you or holding your hand. Take the reins. Come up with great ideas. And enjoy yourself in our fun and colorful neighborhood grocery stores. No bureaucracy, either. Trader Joe's is unlike any other place you've ever worked. Trust us on that. Start your career at Trader Joe's in the Regional Mobile Thriver (RMT) program. As a part of this fast-track, corporate-sponsored, retail-management training program, you'll train in three to four retail stores over 12 to 18 months. This means that you'll learn a lot of information, in a short amount of time. The RMT program is not for everyone, and we're looking for only the most experienced management candidates. That said, this is what our natural leaders should possess: - BA/BS
- 5+ years of retail, restaurant or hospitality experience
- 3+ years of store manager or assistant store manager level experience
- Flexibility and openness to relocate (our packages are generous)
- Keen communication skills
- Passion and a desire to have fun at work
Move up. In the RMT program, you'll start as a Novitiate, an entry-level supervisor. In this leadership role, you'll do a bit of everything in our stores (including register, display building and stocking) and interact with customers...a lot. With your engaging personality and familiarity with our products, they are sure to flock to you, and keep returning to our stores. As an RMT you'll work 5 days per week, 9-1/2 hours per day, and earn $45,000 to $60,000 per year to start. You can also expect 2 consecutive days off, something you won't find with most other retailers. Once you reach Second Mate, you could expect a base salary of approximately $78,000 plus a bonus. We expect a lot. But we give a lot, too. Prepare yourself for a challenging schedule and intense workload in this exhilarating retail management career. But our pay and benefits are worth your strong efforts. Not all applicants can be contacted personally. WOW us with your cover letter and experience to guarantee a response. When you apply, please include a cover letter that explains any gaps in employment or recent job changes and answer the following questions (consider this your first test in following instructions!): - Why do you want to work for Trader Joe's?
- Do you have 5 or more years of customer service experience (retail, restaurant, hospitality)?
- Are you currently a Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager?
- Do you have a 4-year college degree?
- Are you mobile to other areas after 12 to 18 months of training?
- Are you comfortable starting as a "Novitiate"?
- Do you currently shop at Trader Joe's? If so, which store? If not, which store is closest to you?
- What is your favorite Trader Joe's product and why? (I know...this is a tough one.)
