Duke Manufacturing currently has an excellent opportunity for a Product Designer to assist the Director of New Product Development and the New Product Development Manager in a variety of product design tasks in order to develop new products and modify existing products. Works closely with other engineering staff to formulate design concepts, create product drawings, resolve technical problems, and recommend modifications to improve quality and to reduce product cost. Designs sheet metal: machined, extruded, wire formed, molded and cast parts and assemblies. Researches and specifies buy-out components, materials and vendors. Communicates with plant personnel to produce needed components and parts. Creates and modifies drawings using Solidworks and AutoCad. Researches and solves design and manufacturing issues. Builds prototypes of new products. Writes, processes, and releases engineering change orders (ECOs). Maintains ISO standard log book per engineering ISO standards. Assists in ISO compliance audits and product audits. Generates product cost estimates and bills of material (BOMs). Provides technical support for service problems related to the equipment. Completes bills of material and supporting documentation (manuals, wiring schematics, etc.) required for the release of new products into production. Provides assistance in obtaining agency product approval and listing (UL and NSF). Tests products to a variety of standards, such as safety, sanitation, performance, radiation emissions and sound. Communicates project status to supervisors and Sales Department.
