Job Description:
Summary
The primary purposes of this position are to analyze GAAP accounting methodologies, prepare tax returns and work papers, and to research tax issues that arise. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local income tax estimates, extensions, and returns and prepare excel spreadsheets and work papers to support these items.
- Calculate Schedule M-1 (M-3) tax adjustments.
- Analyze tax accounts to ensure the proper accounting and completion of transactions.
- Assist with calculation of tax provision for financial statements and SEC reports.
- Prepare journal entries to ensure proper accounting for tax provision and tax returns.
- Compile apportionment, tax credit, and other information for state tax return.
- Interact with associates in the Finance department to resolve accounting issues that arise due to the payment of taxes.
- Interact with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and state agencies to resolve return questions and notices.
- Request checks and electronic funds transfers (EFT) when tax money is due.
Experience / Requirements:
Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations
This position requires a valid driver's license to travel between corporate locations.

Education:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Accounting or Business, plus two (2) years of public accounting experience or three (3) years within a large corporate tax environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
