The Staff RN assigned to the Ambulatory Care Unit cares for infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patients. Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice for Ambulatory Care Unit and managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment. Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess, and improve the quality of patient care. Responsible for pre- and post-op/procedure/treatment patient care. Responsible for pre- and post-op/procedure/treatment patient/family education. Administers medications as ordered by the physician. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other clinical disciplines in making decisions regarding each patient's care needs. Works with professional and non-professional employees of the hospital, with physicians, patients and their families. Works closely with nursing students and instructors.
A. Two years nursing experience required in an ambulatory care setting.
B. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
C. Current Texas licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners.
D. Current CPR certification.
E. CNOR/ACLS preferred.
F. Demonstrated current clinical competence as outlined in the appropriate orientation checklist.
G. Medication Test score of 8O% or better.
H. Maintains current clinical competence.
I. Annual Skills Checklist (RISKY Business) Demonstrated knowledge of surgical aseptic technique.
J. Maintains knowledge of all patient care equipment.
K. Knowledge of AORN Standards and Recommended Practices.
I. Laser Certification preferred.
M. Does include Endoscopy call.
