Position Summary:
The Medical Director is responsible for the development and implementation of clinical standards and guidelines, quality assurance activities, and behavioral medicine initiatives. You will guide clinical innovation and promotion of evidence based practices, anticipates clinical strategic needs and processes and guides change as appropriate. You will have overall responsibility for ensuring the clinical excellence of services provided to all members.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Responsible for delegation of adherence to quality standards and quality improvement.
· Recommends changes and modifications of current protocols such as level of care guidelines and process for purpose of quality improvement.
· Develops and participates in clinical and quality management processes
· Monitor and trend compliance with established clinical performance standards and oversee action plans to ensure compliance.
· Develops and promotes the coordination of behavioral and medical care.
· Oversees the review of inpatient hospitalization and other acute care services
· Keeps current regarding prevalent treatment policies, guidelines and philosophies.
· Participates in the credentialing and privileging of psychiatric clinicians
· Liaison with Provider Services to include participation in Provider Credentialing, Oversight and Appeals Committees

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Medical degree with an active unencumbered license in the State of California
- Board certified in psychiatry
- Minimum of 10 years post-licensure experience, including experience in an organized healthcare setting as a senior clinician leader with responsibility for clinical standards, quality improvements and clinical supervision.
Additional Assets Preferred:
- Strong presentation skills
- Expertise in behavioral healthcare treatment modalities.
- Experience as a Medical Director in a managed behavioral health plan setting
