Manufacturing Engineering Manager I

Description

PURPOSE:


Manages and coordinates activities of manufacturing engineering section to design and develop tools, machines, controls, equipment and mechanical processes to support manufacturing operations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs and demand to plan projects. Confers with management and production staff to determine engineering feasibility and cost effectiveness.


Coordinates production, installation, operation, maintenance, repair and development of state-of-the-art systems to assure product can be manufactured in a manner consistent with QSR/GMP, Medical Device Directive (MDD), and ISO regulations.


Ensures proper documentation. Forecasts operating costs of section and directs preparation of budget requests.


Lead, supervise and schedule Engineers, Technicians and interdisciplinary teams working on group’s projects. Work with various BSC personnel on improving production yields, flows and methods.


Actively communicates and develops strategies with Industrial Engineering and EH & S for elimination of potential job hazards and minimizing impacts affecting environmental health and safety.


Must comply with requirements of ISO 14001 and BSC Environmental, Health and Safety standards and follow procedures and instructions related to these standards.


Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports BSC’s Quality Policy, Quality System and the appropriate regulations for the area they support. Ensure employees are trained to do their work and their training is documented.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Supervises all Manufacturing Engineering staff.



QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this position you must have the following qualifications: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and/or SKILLS


The position requires a BSME/MET or related Engineering Degree and a minimum 5-7 years in a process engineering/manufacturing engineering role. Must have a minimum of five years of management experience. Must have excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and Project, as well as CAD literate. Must have previous disposable medical device experience.


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: The following are qualifications that we would prefer candidates to have.


Understanding and demonstrated success in process improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing and six sigma.
