Lighting Science is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer at its in Satellite Beach, FL office. Responsible for coordinating and directing the development, improvement, support and evaluation of all manufacturing business products/processes/procedures; and leading the technical transition effort to full -scale manufacturing capability. Responsibilities include:
· Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes. · Develop and implement Statistical Process Control techniques into manufacturing environment. · Continually analyzes manufacturing process flows with the elimination of waste as a prime driver towards quality, throughput and cost reduction enhancements resulting in improved value added processes. · Confer with quality department to identify, quantify, and develop/implement plan for scrap reduction/control. · Confer with material control department to identify and resolve both short and long term bottlenecks. · Confer with design engineering and configuration control concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. · Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards. · Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for operational decisions. · Work closely with manufacturing management in the development, coordination, and implementation of technical training for manufacturing employees. · Travel: 10% - 25% travel may be required. · Experience leading a Lean transition effort in an electronics environment.
