Part-Time Faculty HUMAN RESOURCES

Lakeland Community College is one of Ohio's premier two-year colleges. An accredited institution, Lakeland is at the forefront of technology and innovation. Learning is first in every policy, program and practice. The learning college concept provides a unity of purpose for faculty and staff and places an emphasis on team work and professional development to better serve students and the community. Lakeland's state-of-the-art facilities attract over 8,500 credit and 18,000 noncredit students annually. Our Lake County location places us within 25 miles of world-class business, educational, cultural and recreational activities in the Cleveland area.We are developing a pool of individuals for potential teaching assignments. We currently offer the following courses, with a Human Resources emphasis, through our Business Management department:BUSM 2300 Human Resource Management This course is an introduction to HR functions, including recruitment and selection, training and development, compensation and benefits, and labor relations. The course integrates current trends and related legislation. (3 credit hours/3 units of load)

BUSM 2330 Employment Practices As part of this specialized study of employment practices and methods, students develop technical skills in the areas of job analysis, recruitment, interviewing, and selection. Experiential exercises and cases are combined with the application of related legislation and current issues.

BUSM 2350 Labor-Management Relations This advanced course focuses on the history and evolution of U.S. labor-management relations. It includes the basic functional areas of labor relations and collective bargaining; key legislation affecting labor relations; and negotiation techniques and strategies. (3 credit hours/
3 units of load)

BUSM 2370 Compensation and Benefits A specialized study and skill development course focusing on compensation and benefits, the course includes hands-on experiences with salary surveys, job evaluation, salary administration, competitive cost-effective medical plan strategies, and retirement plan design and administration. (3 credit hours/3units of load)

BUSM 2200 Organizational Behavior This course provides a study and analysis of the many factors that have an impact on how individuals and groups respond to, and act in, organizations. It explores cause and effect relationships of behavior for managerial purposes and offers a theoretical foundation as well as a practical component. (3 credit hours/3units of load)
QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or Organizational Development, or Business Administration with an emphasis in one of these areas and at least five years of human resources-focused work experience at the managerial level.

RATE OF PAY: $736/unit of load
