About Us:
The New York Racing Association, Inc. is a private, non-profit association that owns and operates the three largest racetracks in New York : Aqueduct, Belmont Park and Saratoga . Last year, more than two million people attended the races at NYRA tracks and enjoyed the finest quality of thoroughbred racing in the world.
At Aqueduct in Ozone Park, Queens, construction is planned for the addition of a casino with 4,500 Video Lottery Terminals (such as video poker, video slot machines, etc.).

Position Summary:

Promote the sale of NYRA event facilities to increase group sales revenue, which involves contacting targeted companies to solicit business, responding to incoming calls for information on NYRA event facilities, escorting potential clients on tours of the facilities; discussing options for facilities, food service, entertainment, and amenities with the client, offering suggestions to improve the event, and arranging for the event to take place.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Send brochures to targeted companies
  • Call potential clients by phone to solicit their business
  • Attend networking events to develop new clients
  • Maintain a contact database of potential clients
  • Explain the terms of the NYRA event contract to the client
  • Close the sale and print event tickets for the client
  • Oversee and coordinate all activities on the day of event to ensure its success and ensure client expectations are met
  • Trouble shoot any problems and submit final bill to the client

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 2 – 3 years of sales experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and work ethic.
