External Description: Anchorage, Alaska: Providence Health & Services Alaska is seeking qualified candidates for our MIS Trainer position. This is a project based assignment only and is a temporary (non-benefited) position starting late 2009 and lasting approximately 18-24 months.
As a MIS Trainer you will be responsible for the identification and coordination of Management Information Services (MIS) educational and training requirements for all Providence Alaska employees, to include physicians, clinical, and all ancillary staff. You will also be responsible for the development and delivery of classes for all existing and new information systems and will participate in the development and delivery of MIS competency programs. We are looking for a team player who supports the fundamentals of project management with a customer service focus.
The essential elements for a qualified candidate include the following:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Communications, Adult Education, Business Administration, or Healthcare specialty. Masters Degree preferred.
Experience: Ideally, candidates will have previous experience in training users on clinical applications in areas such as Health Information Systems, Radiology Information Systems, Lab systems, and Electronic Medical Record, plus knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
A minimum of four (4) years experience in delivery of classroom training, one-on-one training, computer-based training, multimedia training and Internet training. Formal experience as a technical trainer in a group and individual settings is preferred. Experience in developing training schedules to accommodate software and system deployments and experience in evaluating trouble calls to determine training needs is preferred. A good understanding of IT systems combined with experience of delivering training is a healthcare environment. You might have a clinical background and experience and have progressed into a training role.
Other Qualifications: Computer proficiency: Windows 2000, email, Internet, file management, Microsoft Office. Knowledge of and ability to use business application software, technical writing and desktop publishing required. Experience in developing objectives and curricula for technical training and software applications. Sensitivity to people from all levels within the organization, regardless of socioeconomic status, minority or cultural background. Excellent planning and organization skills. Effective collaboration and teaming are essential to success.
