We currently seek a Project Assistant to provide support to our Practice Support department in our Irvine, CA office. Project Assistants are entry level members of the Practice Support Program who gain first hand experience of the legal world by supporting more senior paralegals and attorney case teams. Each Project Assistant is assigned to one of the many practice groups of the Firm, where they will learn numerous tasks that are invaluable in the support of work performed for clients of the Firm. Project Assistants also have opportunity to gain new skills and an expanded role as they demonstrate proficiency. Overview of Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be an integral member of a talented Practice Support team. The following is an overview of the responsibilities for this position. The selected candidate will have ample opportunity to gain new skills and an expanded role as they demonstrate proficiency.
- Assist with file maintenance projects.
- Create indices and labels.
- Assist with bates labeling and quality checking of document production work.
- Redact confidential information from client documents in preparation for production.
- Draft, edit and proofread cover letters, administrative memos, and Word documents.
- Coordinate small projects to include duplicating and review of transcripts.
- Provide data entry support on litigation databases and Excel spreadsheets.
- Perform various searches in litigation databases.
- Assist in maintenance of practice group document libraries.
- Maintain filing of case correspondence and pleadings.
- Schedule and track depositions, filing deadlines, etc.
- Organize documents specific to practice group and case requirements.
- Prepare and organize case materials for off-site storage.
- Perform basic legal and factual research (including hard copy and on-line).
- Proofread pleadings, briefs and other documents as required by practice group and case team.
- Assist with preparing filings at courts or government agencies.
- Prepare trial, witness or briefing notebooks.
- Assist at hearings, trials and/or meetings.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Strong attention to detail, including superior spelling and grammar.
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
- Familiarity with Concordance, Ringtail, LiveNote and Summation is a plus.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with attorneys and clients.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Records management skills.
- Moderate typing skills.
Additional Essential Responsibilities:
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing less than 50 pounds.
- Ability to be mobile to and from work and within Firm work spaces.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers and outside parties.
- Visual acuity sufficient to permit performance of job functions enumerated above.
- Ability to travel or work overtime as necessary.

- Bachelor's degree.
