Venipuncture Tech

Job Description :

Obtains blood specimens by capillary puncture or venipuncture. Performs electrocardiograms on outpatients. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. This knowledge includes the use of specialized equipment, patient identification and specimen labeling requirements, and computer functions related to order and receipt of specimens. Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports the laboratory mission. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

- Experience or State of California certification required (or proof that it is in progress).
- Previous experience as a venipuncture technician that includes skills with newborn and children are preferred.
- Must have good communication skills and some computer knowledge.
- Strong customer service ability.
- Weekend coverage required.
