JOB DESCRIPTION:
LOCATION WILL BE IN CHARLOTTE NC

Manages the performance of employees and activities for designated areas. Provides a positive image and direction to staff to ensure an environment of progressive growth and development. Participates as a member of the laboratory leadership team. Assumes responsibility for problem solving, personnel issues and the efficiency and accuracy of departments managed.

Graduate of an accredited program. Baccalaureate degree from a recognized college or university and/or certification as a medical technologist by ASCP, SBB certification required. Must have had at least three years of supervisory experience and possess specific knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures within the section where applicable. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Possess sufficient knowledge to investigate and evaluate new methodologies for presentation to management for approval. Possess management skills for accepting responsibility, making decisions, directing and supervising personnel within the section. Promote and maintain compatible working relationships among personnel within the section. Ability to operate equipment both at sitting levels and/or standing levels. Flexibility and adaptability to work additional hours or shifts and under stress. Effective communication skills listening, writing, talking, and reading. Ability to communicate via telephone, Lab Information System and verbally. Ability to work efficiently and accurately. Ability to organize and plan work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary Work - lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, including the human body, weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time). Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
