Description : CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Define, document, create, deliver, educate, evangelize and maintain the BRCM franchised solutions for source control using Perforce as the tool, and aid in the migration of the engineering communities to this model. · Provide enterprise wide consulting services for CM systems design, development, performance management, and support. · Develop and maintain solutions that provide "secured" access to the IP that is housed and maintained in the source control and defect management platforms. · Create and install tools, develop upgrades/modifications and generate integration of various tools and services. · Evaluate and redesign, where necessary, CM processes within individual engineering organizations. Doing so always with the view of the corporate picture, while optimizing the operations for that specific engineering group. · Assist in planning, implementation, and utilization of CM for individual engineering groups' quality assurance/process improvement initiatives. · Analyze, investigate, and take the necessary action to provide solutions for problems pertaining to the operation, improvement, maintenance, and productivity of CM tools and processes throughout the enterprise. · Establishing Backup and Disaster Recovery plans and procedures for recovery of any type of loss. · Work with the individual engineering groups to establish Data Retention policies and procedures to help manage the cost and utilization of Disk Space. Focusing on: · What needs to be retained, for whom, and for how long? · How is the information retained (on-line, off-line, media type and format)? · Address CM Education and Training needs by identifying the kind of training, tools, and user documentation required. · Participate in a cohesive, diversely skilled and effective team with the ability to work well under pressure and the ability to work effectively across all levels throughout the enterprise. · Maintain an on-going understanding of the different engineering environments, their product strategies, the enterprise wide product strategies and how emerging CM technology can be best employed to practically and cost effectively support stated goals. · Maintain knowledge and awareness of all CM related tools and processes in use at Broadcom. · Maintain knowledge and awareness of CM related tools and processes used in the industry. Be able to benchmark and discuss best practices at BRCM and in the industry. Build relationships with others holding similar responsibilities to learn and grow through the practical knowledge of others.
Job Requirements : · College degree, preferably a B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field with at least eight years direct experience in source control management and defect management systems. Requires the ability to design, develop, enhance and integrate programs. Skills in PERL, and shell scripting a must. Skills in C, C++ and Java a plus. Must have strong background working in Windows, Linux and Unix worlds. · Experience and expertise with Perforce source code control software, on various platforms in support of all the facets of engineering development. This would include a solid understanding of and experience with the full conception from development to deployment to support life cycle, and all the stages in between, of hardware and software engineering systems. · Excellent matrix organization project and task management skills. · Experience in a large, complex organization or corporate structure environment required. · Must have the ability to effectively interface with users, staff and customers. · Must be able to work in dynamic situations with heavy time pressures. · Must work well in a changing environment with high expectations for execution. · Must work well in a flat, influenced based organization. · Must be able to market and sell solutions, helping others to understand the value of change. · Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills for communicating with both internal and external customers. · Strong business analysis and presentation skills. · Ability to work well under pressure. · Strong understanding, based on solid experience, in hardware, software and other technology development processes and methodologies. · Familiarity with mainstream CM product lines (Perforce, ClearCase, ClearQuest, Subversion, CVS, Remedy, Synchronicity (DesignSync, ProjectSync), JIRA. · Proven track record of successful implementation of CM processes covering multi-site, multi-technology scenarios. · Excellent negotiation skills. · Excellent organizational and time management skills.
