Sr. Design Engineer Electrical
Liebert, an Emerson Network Power business, the world leader in mission critical power and cooling technology currently is seeking a Sr. Design Engineer Electrical located in Columbus, Ohio.
This person will fill an important role in Engineering by implementing improvements to our equipment as required by internal or external Customers, National Electrical Codes, Safety Agencies, or energy saving initiatives. An emphasis will be placed on 600 volt or less control panel designs and the application of electronic process control components.
Essential Functions Include: · Apply experience and education to practical applications. · Communicate with customers to accurately determine their requirements and the best solution · Select electrical components and design circuits, assemblies, or product options. · Develop Engineering computer programs as required. · Help define new software algorithms for process control components. · Integrate new or revised control systems into the products. · Develop unit and system schematics, electrical bills of material, and electric panel layouts for 24 to 600 volt, 1 and 3 phase, 50 and 60 hertz applications. · Follow recognized agency standards for design and testing practices · Initiate lab test requests, guide technicians, evaluate and document results · Develop test simulators that reproduce product and system schematics. · Collect, analyze, and present performance and cost data. · Support Marketing and Production with generation of electrical literature and serial tag data · Create new and revised purchased part, fabrication, assembly or schematic drawings using CAD system · Enter drawings and bills of material into computerized documentation system · Issue Engineering Changes and Deviations to release permanent or temporary designs. · Work with local and remote plants to implement designs into production.
Qualifications include: · A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and 5 years experience · Good verbal communication and written documentation skills · Good planning, organizing, and presentation skills. · Ability to be a team player with positive problem solving skills · Ability to read part, assembly, and schematic drawings · Good knowledge of electric panel components and equipment manufacturing processes · Working knowledge of the U.S. National Electrical Code · Good computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office products · Ability to use computerized bill of material systems · Experience with creating drawings using CAD systems · Working experience with HVAC components and systems employing motors, refrigerant compressors, air heaters and humidifiers desired · VFD or PLC programming desired · Previous experience in an OEM environment desired · Experience with UL/CSA/IEC component and equipment standards desired
