Our Client - A leading Enterprise Application, Solution, and Advisory Firm, is actively seeking a senior level Oracle Database Engineer for their location in Herndon, Virginia.
This individual will be on the database team and be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining multiple development, test, and production database servers and instances on a UNIX platform. Daily duties will involve assisting product teams with database configuration and issues, installations of new Oracle software, updates to existing software, monitoring database activity for space or hardware issues, and providing performance tuning assistance. Other duties will include implementing and utilizing backup and recovery procedures for multiple databases, export and hot backup strategies; assisting developers/system engineers in designing more efficient databases, tables, code and procedures; and documenting database information in a configuration management package. The individual will also provide periodic 24x7 Operational DB support rotating on-call duties with the other DB Team members.
Position Responsibilities:
. 9+ years of Oracle database experience
. 3+ years of experience in database tuning and maintenance
. Database Recovery experience
. Database Design, Indexing Concepts, Coding
. Oracle RAC with Veritas System Foundation for RAC (SFRAC), RMAN
. Experience developing repeatable processes for Oracle RAC install, upgrades, patching, and other administrative core DBA functions
. Perform database capacity planning related to database growth and system, database tuning, utilization, trend analysis, and predicting future database resource requirements
. Perform ongoing assessment of database performance and identification of problem areas
. Must have Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Skills:
. Proficiency in UNIX Shell scripting, PL/SQL
. Experience with Oracle configuration to WebLogic and/or Plumtree Portal (AquaLogic User Interaction or Oracle Web Center)
. Experience with ASM, Dataguard
