About the Opportunity:
Provides support, training, expert clinical and technical advice in the areas of regulation and standards of resident care and clinical practice. Provides consultation to district and nursing center staff to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations and Kindred standards of resident care and clinical practice. In addition, provides oversight and coordination of the focus facilities in the region. Ensures corrective measures are developed and implemented.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Health related field
Licenses/Certification:
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in state(s) of practice
Experience:
  • 5-10 years of experience with 5 years in nursing management position and multi nursing center oversight and responsibility
Essential Functions:
  • Functions as team leader for the Regional Quality Focus Team.
  • Provides identified centers (focus facilities) with training, mentoring, and process monitoring to achieve sustained compliance. Assists centers to achieve sustained quality improvements as evidenced by an effective performance improvement process. Assesses, plans, develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates clinical operations and performance improvement systems.
  • Reviews, recommends and directs the implementation of clinical policies and procedures to reflect current rules and regulations that govern nursing center systems and clinical practice.
  • Provides oversight and validates readiness for standard survey and follow-up survey as directed.
  • Monitors nursing center compliance with Federal, State, and local requirements. Reviews regulatory survey reports and provides consultation to district and center staff to facilitate improvement and to resolve deficiencies.
  • Coordinates the appropriate regional and district staff to conduct focus facility visits and reviews, identifying risk factors, coordinating and implementing action plans to minimize liability and risk. Provides consultation in the development of plans of correction and aggressive follow-up on repeat, recurrent deficiencies.
  • Provides training to district and nursing center staff to address identified clinical and practice issues based on discussion and/or on-site visits, as necessary and/or as requested.
  • Functions as a member of the regional team in the development, implementation and evaluation of plans to correct identified areas of opportunity.
  • Maintains and makes available current resources regarding state of the art technology, clinical practices, and protocols, rules and regulations, and standards that impact clinical operations.
  • Collaborates with company clinical and operational professionals to coordinate and improve company clinical operations.
  • Assists in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, orientation, and performance appraisal of nursing center and district staff, as appropriate.
  • Maintains current knowledge of geriatric and nursing rehabilitative clinical practice. Maintains current knowledge of Kindred policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge of applicable Medicare, and state Medicaid regulations, reimbursement systems and methodology and standards for long term care.
  • Serves on Division or Region Committees and Workgroups as assigned. In the absence of the Regional Vice President of Clinical Operations, performs duties as necessary.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Clinical knowledge of current nursing practice, long-term care regulations, and current clinical policies and procedures.
  • Ability to teach, train, instruct and mentor others.
  • Computer literate, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Writer.
  • Ability to travel extensively 60% - 80%, via automobile and air or public transportation.
