Project Manager: Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC)
ARC is seeking an experienced Project Manager to manage multiple projects within e-Business and Corporate Services department. The Project Manager performs a broad range of support activities to facilitate the effective execution and management of product development projects within the constraints of time, budget, scope, customer satisfaction, and quality. The Project Manager applies knowledge of product requirements to determine the roles and responsibilities of all team members to successfully manage project activities and ensure the delivery of project deliverables. To be successful in this role, candidates must be able to understand the entire scope and requirements of project(s) and serve as the liaison between cross functional team members, system development, technical services and business line management. This person should seek opportunities to improve the product development process and is persistent in ensuring tasks are completed. The selected candidate must be able to solicit input on requirements, dependencies, and resource availability to determine project approach, negotiate for resources across ARC, and determine project schedules. The successful candidate must then demonstrate the ability to manage product development projects to defined parameters. The Project Manager must be able to present project status to senior management and mitigate risks to ensure successful product delivery. Responsibilities: - Coordinate and lead multi-faceted, cross functional project teams and stakeholder meetings and create and maintain documentation to support project activities and deliverables.
- Regularly contact and examine contributions by project stakeholders through all phases of projects and assist Program Managers in tracking project progress, costs, updating project plans and develop and distribute status reports.
- Identify interdependencies of multiple project efforts and facilitate communication among project team members.
- Anticipate resource needs of the team and advise management.
- Work within and adapt established project policies and guidelines to contribute specific results towards the overall project effort.
- Assist in negotiation, definition, communication and management of project scope.
- Determine quality and risk management approaches in relation to project objectives.
- Define and support quality assurance measures for projects.
- Conduct client interviews and ensure comprehensive requirements gathering process and documentation.
- Provide training and coaching on project management principals and practices and support to those groups and individuals within the organization who participate in and deliver projects.
- Collaborate with Application Engineering and other development groups involved in the project delivery process.
Skills/Knowledge Required: - Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline such as Business, Information Technology, Management or Information Systems or equivalent background from academic and professional education and experience.
- 5 - 7 years experience in a Project or Product Management role (may be combined).
- Demonstrate selection and application of project management tools.
- Must have working knowledge of Project Management best practices and industry standards (e.g. PMI/PMBOK).
- PMP Certification and/or Certified Scrum Master, preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing analytical data products, business intelligence, and/or related information retrieval technologies.
- Proven track record leading large, successful projects in a complex business and systems environment, across all phases of the project life cycle.
- Must be a team player and excellent collaborator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills including ability to prioritize multiple functions and tasks and manage tasks efficiently with high level of attention to detail.
- Must have excellent judgment and strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrates his/her understanding of the business's short-, medium-, and long-term objectives. Ability to understand technical and business requirements and translate these into tasks for project schedules which the project team will address/execute.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work under tight deadlines while coordinating several projects at a time with rapidly changing business and technical needs and conditions.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and collaboration skills are essential. The abilities to listen carefully, explain concepts clearly, follow up on details, mentor individuals at different levels and generally interact well with people from many different disciplines represent a key skill set for this position.
- Independently or as part of a team, perform internal research, customer research, and develop business case scenarios and models. These business case scenarios and models will be used to quantify the financial opportunity, as well as evaluate the business, technical, and systems feasibility, of recommended improvement opportunities.
- Aggressively pursue, gain, and maintain a robust knowledge of products and services provided by ARC and various entities throughout the travel industry, as well as key stakeholder issues. Tenaciously apply this knowledge in support of innovative business solutions and enhancements.
- Possess the willingness and ability to successfully implement and encourage adherence to commitments by individuals at different levels of the management hierarchy, while simultaneously developing and maintaining positive relationships with those same individuals.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical users at all levels of an organization.
- Write requirements specifications:
- Develop high-level business and user requirements in conjunction with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Decompose high-level business and user requirements into functional and nonfunctional requirements, specified in an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by those must base their work on the requirements.
- Represent requirements using alternative views, such as analysis models (diagrams), prototypes, or scenarios, where appropriate.
- Conduct Research and Analysis for E-Business Products and Corporate Services
- Conduct and produce quantitative analysis of various products.
- Conduct planned research efforts (customer surveys, best practices, etc).
- Analyze website metrics for path analysis and customer experience improvements.
