Requirements

The senior financial accountant is a key position within Racetrac’s accounting team. This individual will be an active participant in the company’s initiative to utilize the new ERP system (JDE A9.1 World) to reduce manual intensive processes and improve the accuracy of current accounting information. To achieve these objectives, the senior financial accountant will lead a team of degreed accountants and work with other departments within Racetrac to understand the current business processes. A major focus will be on automating these business processes to reduce the element of human error and increase the efficiency of the monthly close processes. This position also requires training staff accountants in GAAP and providing general accounting training to non-accounting employees.

Key responsibilities for this position will include:

• Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, including cash flows, for audit and debt compliance.
• Maintain general ledger account structure to ensure that the general ledger hierarchy is in line with the reporting hierarchy.
• Ensure reporting is in line with the end users’ needs.
• Ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled in a timely manner.
• Maintain fixed assets module in JD Edwards to ensure assets are stated properly for tax and book reporting purposes.
• Administer construction budgeting process.
• Impact continuous process improvement within the team.
• Mentor team members and employees of varying skill levels in general accounting best practices.
• Direct resources and manage request from internal customers.

Position requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience, with at least 2 years of experience as a senior accountant managing a team of 2 or more
• Must possess strong GAAP knowledge.
• Must have experience in construction and fixed assets accounting.
• Must have knowledge of an understanding of how ERP’s function, JD Edwards experience preferred.
• Must have strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with FASTR reporting, ShowCase Query and Cognos for financial reporting are preferred.
• Communication, leadership, ability to drive change, innovative outlook and problem analysis are core competencies that are requirements of this position.
