Graphic Designer
Job Summary: Designs and produces printed and web marketing products including magazines, newsletters, brochures, advertising, and graphics used in the University's web site, special projects, and a variety of print products.
Essential Functions: 1. Reviews the University's web graphics designs for consistent use of the University's brand and design elements for San Antonio and the regional campuses. 2. Designs art work and participates in the design and production of print and web products for both internal and external target markets. 3. Provides electronic based materials (jpegs, HTML based documents, etc.) for University departments and external constituents as appropriate. 4. Negotiates print production bids with vendors, oversees graphic project production and timely delivery of print and web products, and ensures quality control standards are met. 5. Develops University web sites as needed.
Additional Responsibilities: 1. Oversees photography needed for various print and web illustrations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. Proficient in desktop publishing, layout, editing, proofreading, expertise in current Internet standards and web page design. 2. Strong graphic design, print and web page development skills. Extensive experience with desktop publishing and imaging applications such as Photoshop, HTML, Flash, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Freehand, Illustrator; knowledge of current web and printing technology. 3. Ability to clearly document and track all products in various stages of production and to supervise contracted work. 4. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of users and support staff.
Education and Experience: 1. Bachelor's degree in graphic design or fine arts. 2. Three years professional experience in commercial art. 3. Experience developing web-based products. 4. Portfolio required for interview.
