Description

The Health Information Management Director assumes the role as a leader in planning, directing and managing the department and staff to assure quality service on a 24-hour basis. The Director is responsible for meeting JCAHO standards, complying with corporate policy and procedures, for managing supplies and equipment, for promoting teamwork with physicians and all healthcare providers, for promoting internal and external customer satisfaction, and for appropriate resource management.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Plans, supervises and coordinates overall departmental activities in order to meet established goals.
  • Develop and administer department budget.
  • Establishes departmental policies and procedures.
  • Establish standard for productivity and quality for each area of the department.
  • Selects, trains and evaluates all supervisors.
  • Works closely with the medical staff liaison for Health Information Management functions.

Qualifications

Position requirements include education:
  • Current RHIA or RHIT certification through AHIMA (required)
  • Graduate of an accredited BS or AS degree program in Health Information Administration or related field of study
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible HIM management experience in an acute care setting
