Reference Services Librarian
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Library Science, from a university program accredited by the American Library Association.
2-3 years experience in a medical library.
Experience in using medical and scientific literature databases, such as MEDLINE, CINAHL, EBSCOhost and other medical and scientific databases.
Experience in providing interlibrary loans and familiarity with ILL protocols.
Knowledge of local, state, national and international library networks, their policies and practices and the ability to interact with them.
Experience with an integrated, automated library system.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated presentation skills with large and small groups.
Demonstrated customer service skills to interact tactfully and knowledgeably with a diverse group of medical professionals and hospital administration.
Experience in the use of computers, complex databases, and library applications, specifically DOCLINE and Clio; OCLC, FirstSearch; OVID and EBSCOhost.
Experience using an integrated library system, Ex Libris Voyager preferred.
Experience with web-site creation tools such as HTML.
Proficient in Microsoft applications including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word.
Ability to organize a multiplicity of competing tasks and bring them to an efficient conclusion.
Experience teaching database searching in both small and large group settings.
Experience training others to use PCs and web-based resources
Job Description:
This part-time position will be based at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL with frequent travel to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.
Provides knowledge-based reference and research information services to physicians and associates in support of the clinical, educational, and research goals of Advocate Health Care. Develops and provides Advocate-wide outreach and education to further the integration of electronic knowledge-based resources into clinical practice. Creates and develops instructional web-based training and tools to provide distance learning opportunities for physicians and associates. Contributes to the ongoing development of the Library Network technology infrastructure.
