Certified Nursing Assistant Grade 160: Kaiser Permanente
DEPARTMENT: Med/Surg
SCHEDULE: Part-Time Regular, 24 hours per week, Night Shift. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 11:00PM-7:00AM. Also may include weekends. Hours/days may change for operational needs and will follow the bargaining union contract for notification of change.
EDUCATION / LICENSE / CERTIFICATION: High school graduate or equivalent required. Current California State Nursing Assistant certification required. Current BLS certification required.
POSITION SUMMARY: Implements patient care activities under the direction of the registered nurse.
QUALIFICATIONS: Six months' acute setting within the last two years required. Must have effective oral and written communication skills with coworkers, other health care team members, and patients. Completion of a certified nursing attendant program. Must have six (6) months acute inpatient experience or one year in a SNF/subacute as a nursing assistant/orderly with the last four (4) years with clinical expertise in the posted clinical areas preferred. Must be willing to receive additional training as necessary. Willing to receive orientation training to other areas with the hospital nursing department, as directed. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to safely transport, lift and position patients. Ability to obtain, transport, clean and maintain supplies and equipment, as clinical area required. Effective written and oral communication skills, in English. Demonstrated ability to provide a consistently high quality of service to patients, visitors and staff at all times. Good attendance record within the last year of employment. Must work within the parameters of the performance expectations for this category. Will float within total house where you meet minimum skill requirements. Ability to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: This job may require lifting up to 40 lbs. This job may require assistance with transferring patients from one department to another. Implements and documents safe and therapeutic and efficient care as directed by the RN. Collects and reports data to RN for development for plans for meeting patient/family needs. Supports the psychological, social, spiritual, and cultural needs of the patient and family. Observes, records, and reports patient/
family response to nursing care. Implements interventions appropriate to specific age groups and
developmental status of patients.
