This person underwrites mortgage loans ensuring compliance with appropriate company and secondary market investor standards; evaluates loans in order to maximize organizational profit and minimize risk or loss; and examines loan documentation for accuracy and completeness. This person works with loan originator or production staff to secure all required documents; works with more senior underwriters on loan exceptions; and will have authority to withdraw and decline loans. This person may be involved in one or several types of mortgage lending (conventional, government-backed, etc.). Extensive customer contact is required.

This may require a Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of residential mortgage underwriting experience including manual decisioning. The ability to validate income, asset and collateral documents including self employed tax returns is required. Excellent phone skills and superior customer service skills are required. This person typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

This position pays 28.50-30.00 hourly
