L-3 Communications/D.P. Associates Inc. is seeking an Instructional Designer with adult training experience and substantial instructional systems design experience to support the Census Bureau. This position supports the operational processing activities and systems for the various 2010 Census operations.
The candidate will be responsible for
(1) Designing and developing technical training programs by applying instructional designs principles;
(2) Eliciting and gathering requirements for the project / task;
(3) analyzing documented operational requirements and specifications;
(4) developing specifications for automated and non-automated systems;
(5) developing technical procedures and training/reference materials for automated and non-automated systems; and (6) conducting technical classroom and on-the-job training for automated and non-automated systems.
This position requires the ability to multi-task and meet established deadlines for multiple projects. The candidate will work as a team member and independently. The work is performed in a high pressure, production environment.
DUITES
- Conducting training programs to diverse groups of trainees
- Experience in technical writing for technical and non-technical users
- Developing training plans, training objectives and training schedules
- Developing technical and/or non-technical training materials, i.e., training manuals, procedural manuals, quick reference guides, job aids, and handouts based upon requirements and specifications
- Working knowledge of the ADDIE Model
- Ability to elicit and gather requirements
- Ability to test the automated systems from the user perspective
- Designing and developing training programs for home-grown proprietary systems by applying instructional design principles and adult learning principles.
- Conducting analysis of the requirements, end users, intended use of the application, facility constraints, and equipment
- Analyzing and interpreting requirements and/or specifications from which procedures and training materials are developed
- Conducting interactive instructor-led training programs, as well as providing on-the-job training (OJT)
- Developing and conducting train-the-trainer workshops
- Developing training plans, training objectives and schedules
- Creating and modifying plans and procedures to create training courses
- Gathering feedback from subject matter experts and the target audiences.
- Developing technical procedural and training manual outlines based upon requirements and specifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent verbal and writing skills
Software: Highly skilled in WordPerfect, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and Snag-it
Writing Samples: Potential candidates are requested to bring recent work samples to the interview.
Travel: The position requires up to 50% travel.
Education: Bachelors or Masters Degree or Certificate in Instructional System Design, Education, Journalism, English, or appropriate related discipline.
