Principle Research Scientist - Statistician
Global Statistical Sciences will lead and influence Lilly’s transformation through innovative statistical designs, development plans and tailoring strategies to improve patient outcomes. We will apply the most appropriate and innovative analytical methods in order to facilitate business strategies, develop and interpret information, predict and model outcomes, and create knowledge. Lilly USA medical information sciences will exceed customer expectations for their medical information needs and establish industry leadership by applying the most innovative and appropriate science to develop and interpret information.
KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES:
- The job tasks listed below outline the scope of the project statistician position supporting advanced analytics applications.
- This position is aligned to meeting with Lilly USA medical objectives by applying the most appropriate and innovative analytical methods in order to facilitate business strategies, develop and interpret information, predict and model outcomes, and create knowledge.
- Operate in collaboration with research personnel to provide input on research project design and analysis.
- Be accountable for selecting statistical methods for data analysis, authoring statistical analysis plan, and conducting the actual analysis.
- Maintain currency with respect to statistical methodology, maintain proficiency in applying new and varied methods, and be competent in justifying methods selected.
- Participate in peer-review work products from other statistical colleagues.
- Collaborate with team members to write reports and communicate results.
- Be responsible for communicating research results via manuscripts, or oral presentations in group settings, as well as for communicating one-on-one with key customers and presenting at scientific meetings.
- Understand disease states in order to enhance the level of customer focus and collaboration and be seen as a strong scientific contributor.
- Perform work in full compliance with assigned curriculum(s) and will be responsible for following applicable Corporate, Medical, local, and departmental policies, procedures, processes, and training.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics or similar
- 5+ Years of experience in clinical statistics.
- Experience in pharmaceutical industry.
- Technical knowledge in data mining and statistical modeling.
- Proficient in advanced programming language (e.g., Splus, SAS, R).
ADDITIONAL SKILLS/PREFERENCES:
- Experience with overseeing a team.
- Business process expertise associated with critical activities (e.g. data mining, phase IV clinical research, health outcomes.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
