Job Description
Will be responsible for the design and drafting procedures which includes producing or supervising the production of working construction drawings, layout drawings and technical information in a safe and economical manner.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities listed below are provided as a general guideline for purpose of explaining the major functions of this position. These duties and responsibilities may be modified in the future as deemed necessary by the company.
• Supervise the branch draftsperson where applicable
• Safely Design scaffolding, forming or shoring layouts according
• Assisting the sales staff in bid determination
• Planning and scheduling design and drafting procedures in accord with national, local and company standards
• Provide job site service for purpose of evaluating and resolving problems
• Work with customers and contractors as directed by the branch manager, regional manager or division engineering
• Use AutoCAD and other relevant design and engineering software to maximize performance and assure accuracy
• Check layout drawings for conformity to safe company practices while also assuring that customer requirements are satisfied.
• Obtains factual information pertaining to the application problems from the Division Engineering department
• Obtains the necessary approvals from Branch and Divisional Engineering
• May make material recommendations and provide estimates depending competency in this area
• Works directly with the regional manager, sales managers and divisional engineering staff in order to assure that projects are designed in a manner that assures value added customer satisfaction and project efficiency
Skills and Experience Required
• Application of civil and mechanical engineering principles
• Ability to develop approaches and techniques that resolve problems
• A four year college degree in civil or mechanical engineering
• One to three years construction industry experience with special emphasis on forming, shoring and/or scaffolding design, erection and dismantling.
