- Manage, coordinate, and drive programs and activities relevant to Clinical Operations programs. These activities include program tollgate management, deliverable planning and mapping, as well as, program results management.
- Proposed programs may be short-term or permanent in duration, limited or broad in scope.
- Individual programs and program managers will dictate duration program manager remains on point until a business owner is identified.
- Responsible for ensuring that market and regional innovations are appropriately encouraged, captured, integrated, scaled and evaluated for maximum impact on success of UnitedHealthcare and the greater UnitedHealth Group family.
- This role has dual reporting responsibilities, to the Director of Operations and the business owner under which a program is owned.
- Responsible for program management of programs selected for deployment in Clinical Operations.
- Delivering the results from the business case or the best business outcome, adhering to the Clinical Operations methodology, and effective deployment of the end solution.
- On point to initiate knowledge sharing activities and knowledge management requirements
- Develops and manages project plans and deliverables, as well as, responsible for creating the project plan, executing and implementing at the local market level in collaboration with Market Medical Director, and analyzing and reporting results.
- Works with the National Clinical Operations/Divisional Medical Directors and others to determine whether and how potential programs fit within the existing Clinical Operations Model framework.
- Develops business requirements and/or specifications to facilitate program/software development where appropriate.
- Interfaces with software development team, health plan personnel, and national/regional Clinical Operations team as required throughout program/software development cycle.
- Deploys new programs/tools to the market/regional teams.
- Works with national/regional team to define metrics for measuring impact of new programs/software.
- Collects and reports data relevant to assessing this impact

- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships and must posses strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive project and be self-directed and motivated
- Demonstrated history in navigating cross functional/cross segment, enterprise groups and possess high tolerance to stress and the ability to handle difficult situations in a confident and diplomatic manner
- Excellent project management skills
- Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to present information graphically in an effective manner
- BA/BS required, MBA or MPH preferred
- 7 + years experience in project management with data analysis preferably in a clinical setting
- 10+ years of progressive project management skills with formal project management methodology and program level management
- Project Management certification a plus
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills (Six Sigma, UDP or RUP a plus)
- Demonstrated mastery andproficiency with software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Project and data analysis / statistical software (Minitab) a plus.
- Demonstrated track record of keeping programs/projects on time - must have excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Demonstrated effectiveness in managing the identification and deployment of innovation.
- Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects within an matrix enterprise level environment
- Demonstrated track record of managing project budgets, financials and reporting to senior executives on status as needed.
