JOB DESCRIPTION: Progressive, career growth oriented company with 100 years of innovation, service, and quality is searching for 3 Processing Supervisors to work in their Birmingham Foundry. The position is responsible to direct the work of hourly employees engaged in the processing, cement lining, painting, and packaging of pipe products so that work of the required quality is safely provided at the lowest possible cost. Job duties include:
- Supervises hourly employees to assure that working procedures and safety rules are followed and production schedules are met. May be responsible for the effective functioning of the Pipe Run (deLavaud/LD) or the lining, coating, stenciling, packaging and recording of pipe products in compliance with quality and production standards.
- Works with Continuous Improvement personnel and Processing Specialist to find, document and implement process improvements.
- Visually inspects pipe linings and coatings and remains in close contact with Quality Control personnel to monitor the quality of pipe linings and coatings and/or minimizes the effects of mixed diameters/bell types/classes on pre-cement lining yards.
- Assures that all equipment is properly set up and operating safely and effectively; notifies Manager immediately when problems occur and contacts maintenance as required arrange for necessary equipment repairs.
- Maintains contact with Casting Department personnel, communicates production issues and delays and takes action to insure continuous, efficient operations.
- Enforces the Company's plant and safety rules and policies and issues fair and consistent discipline. Receives, evaluates and responds to first-step grievances as required, consulting with the Manager, Processing as required.
- Assures that hourly employees are properly trained and qualified; identifies employees’ training and development needs and assists in the implementation of training to meet these needs.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of manpower utilization, work procedures and cost control methods, and production rates and operating costs and makes recommendations for improvement to the Manager, Processing.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years relevant heavy industrial experience. Must have the ability to plan and direct the work of hourly employees and to identify variances in operating conditions and take corrective action.
- The employee will be working in a heavy industrial environment exposing the employee to Foundry operations. The employee will be exposed (90% of the time) to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust. Fumes, Molten Metal and Metallic Particles. 10% of the time will be office environment
- The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, Walking, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Reaching, Talking, Seeing, Hearing and Sitting.
