Business Intelligence Technical Architect

Job Description:

The individual would be responsible for helping to define the technical strategy for the Data Warehouse projects. They will administrate multiple Analytical implementations, Performance Expert, Business Glossary, Data Stage and DWE implementations running on AIX supporting in-house and third party applications.

A primary job requirement is well-developed business process analytical skills, technical writing skills and excellent communication and teaming skills. The candidate will work with IT Data Modelers, Storage Administrators, Operating System Administrators, WebSphere Administrators, Network Administrators, and Security Analyst and the EDW team to support our evolving business intelligence endeavors. A strong working knowledge of AIX is required. A strong understanding of DWE or UDB DB2 is required, as well as Networking and Storage Management.

The following includes tasks that may be assigned:

  • Assist in defining the technical strategy for the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence initiative that is in alignment with the Dillard’s corporate strategy.
  • Recommend technology and tools, and assist with the implementation.
  • Assist hardware and software support specialist with environment capacity and capacity planning for the EDW/EBI environment.
  • Stay current on knowledge of products and tools relevant to the EDW/EBI environment.
  • Understand system design and element dependencies
  • Be knowledgeable of industry best practices for BI and be responsible for training others on best practices.
  • Consultative support for the EDW/EBI projects.
  • Play an integral role in the determination of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for data acquisition, queries, overall response time, etc.
  • Play an integral role in the design and development of the overall system Architecture
  • Coordinate, maintain and test disaster recovery scenarios for the software stack and database. Document disaster recovery plans and procedures.
  • Planning related to new technology
  • Will work with the EDS Manager on implementing data governance for the EDW
  • Physical and Logical Modeling
  • Database Administration

This position involves a great deal of interaction with application systems and their development staff, Security, Network, Storage and the Operating Systems teams and placement in an on-call rotation for EDW BITA/Database Administration team.

Job Prerequisites:

5 years of IT experience

Self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills

Technical Knowledge of InfoSphere EDW, UDB, Networking, Security, AIX and Storage

Korn shell scripting

Must be able to commute daily to the Corporate offices in Little Rock, Arkansas.

  • Be a highly motivated individual.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with Cognos, Oracle OBIEE, Load Runner, UDB, Intelligent Miner, ETL tools such as DataStage and other IBM DWE tools.

Must be able to commute daily to the Corporate offices in Little Rock, Arkansas.
