The Benefits Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring all balance sheet accounts related to compensation and benefits are recorded in compliance with US GAAP and local GAAP where applicable. The Benefits Accounting Manager also ensures that the Human Resources team is providing adequate support to Corporate Accounting team to ensure that balance sheet accounts are stated properly and are free of material misstatements and errors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves as intermediary between HR, Payroll, Compensation & Payroll Accounting
  • Ensures accounts are documented, reconciled and completed according to policy
  • Ensures no material misstatements
  • Prepare calculations and disclosure statements
  • Participate in process improvement
  • Ensures all transactions are recorded in compliance with US GAAP
  • Manage the balance sheet ensuring all accounts are appropriately reconciled to a standard consistent with corporate guidelines
  • Ensures all activities relating to Equity and Deferred Compensation programs are recorded in the financial statements and reconciled to third party administer records
  • Provides Benefits analytics as required
  • Highlight any issues and suggest resolution

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • CPA Preferred, but not required
  • 5-7 years accounting experience
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
  • Prior experience in Benefit / HR accounting
  • Advanced experience in Excel to include:
    • Pivot tables
    • V Lookup
    • Basic formulas
  • Experience with PeopleSoft a plus
  • Experience with Lawson a plus

Management / Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Directs the work of one full time associate

Competencies:

  • Sound understanding of General Accounting and Corporate business methodology in support of company goals and objectives
  • Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and effectively in both written and oral communications
  • Detail oriented with a careful eye for quality control and presentation of work
  • Self motivated and driven to produce results with tight deadlines and with maximum quality allowed with time constraints
  • Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, at an advanced level)


Other Special Requirements:

  • Liaising with the external Auditors pertaining to the yearend audit and quarterly reviews
  • Management of all SOX processes
  • Demonstrated ability to implement process change and improvement where necessary
