Coding Specialist II: Eide Bailly LLP

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides office, inpatient and outpatient coding support to clients in the areas of clinic billing. Creates reports based on research and findings during coding reviews. Provides consulting services to physicians and clinic facilities as assigned. Oversight of coding staff’s daily coding work coding and work flow.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

· Provides inpatient and outpatient coding support to clients on a regular basis.

· This position is a high volume position, which requires an extremely high accuracy ratio and a significant amount of urgency, as all functions of this position affect reimbursement.

· The incumbent must stay current on all changes and revisions regarding CPT, HCPCs, ICD-9.

· Researches and answers coding questions for internal and external clients

· Provides necessary references to clients in regards to their coding questions in a timely manner

· Conducts coding reviews and report’s findings in a report format including recommendations and appendages complete with references.

· Participates on the HIPAA resource team as assigned.

· Acts as a resource regarding workflow, policies and procedures upon request.

· Provides oversight of coding staff and directs coding work flow.

· Completes periodic reviews of staff coding work assignments to ensure quality, accuracy and compliance of coding practices.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

· Associates Degree in an accredited Health Information Technology program or related field

· 2-5 years of coding experience

· Experience supervising Coding Specialists

· Registered Health Information Technician certification. (RHIT)

· Preferable designations: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (CPC-H)

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

· Must possess extensive knowledge of clinic billing, coding and CPT

· Must possess considerable knowledge of medical/health care terminology

· Knowledge of healthcare systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.

· Requires the ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

· Requires valid driver’s licenses and a dependable vehicle.

· Requires travel from work at client’s offices using personal vehicle.

· May require out-of-town travel for work at client’s offices using personal vehicle.
