OPPORTUNITY IN ETHANOL
Company Information:
Our client company is one of the world’s leading commodity
merchants and processors of agricultural products.
Position Overview:
This position oversees the daily operations of a laboratory
for a dry mill ethanol plant and is an integral part of the plant’s management
team. Primary function is to ensure quality products are produced in an
efficient manner in compliance with Company standards.
Responsibilities:
- Completes
regular checks of laboratory staff and equipment to ensure that standard
operating procedures are followed and Company standards are met
- Develops
and implements quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of test
results
- Maintains
inventory of supplies to ensure efficient laboratory operations
- Responds
to laboratory issues or alarms and leads investigations as necessary
- Responsible
for the operation of the methanator, including daily monitoring, testing
and making any necessary adjustments
- Supervise
fermentation with assistance and cooperation of Production Manager
- Contributes
to the development and implementation of facility audits to ensure
laboratory operations are conducted in a safe, efficient and
environmentally sound manner
- Contributes
to the development and implementation of strategies and tactics to
optimize plant efficiency in order to maximize yield
- Partners
with the Production Manager on product quality issues; Helps identify
production bottlenecks and other production issues that need to be
corrected
- Supports
the utility staff as needed to provide continuous coverage of water
treatment issues
- Develops
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for processes driven by the Lab and
for which Lab staff are responsible
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s
degree (or higher), preferably in microbiology, biology or chemistry.
- Minimum
two years of experience with responsibility for ensuring efficient
laboratory operations and maintaining quality control in an industrial or
municipal facility or in an agribusiness plant. .
- Minimum
1 year of demonstrated supervisory experience
- Experience
within an ethanol plant is highly desirable
- Relevant
experience may include testing of soil samples or wastewater and/or
supervising laboratory personnel.
