GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Works with Marketing, R&D, Cost Accounting, and Materials on new product development. They serve as the voice of operations in the development process and work on design for manufacturability and assembly. This position is responsible for the following NPD phases: planning, design/process, preproduction and production. Knows and applies fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of the advanced manufacturing specialization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Works in a hands-on manner to develop system level design strategies, make recommendations to management and coordinate implementation.
2. Provides support in the design, development, testing & refinement of system, sub-system and components. May be assisted by Design Engineer.
3. Reports observations/problems clearly and concisely, recognizing and highlighting specific deviations.
4. Provides on-going status reports including periodic reviews progress and evaluation of results to management.
5. Development follows IMS procedures.
6. Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.
7. Focuses on customer satisfaction through teamwork and empowerment, solving problems through a consultative approach, operating with honesty and integrity and providing a highly responsive and unsurpassed level of customer service.
8. Accountable for all record-keeping as appropriate and in accordance with Stryker specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related discipline
• GPA of 3.0 or higher, strongly preferred
• Achieved a limited (learning) level of industry knowledge
• Must possess excellent presentation and communication skills
PHYSICAL/SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
• May involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing, as appropriate.
• May be required to reach, push, or pull in order to accomplish job accountabilities.
• Coordination of eye, hand, and/or foot movement with an ability to grasp by hand and meet cognitive demands to include visual and auditory discrimination/memory, reading ability, and memory retention ability.
• Requires use of safety glasses in designated areas.
• Closed-toe shoes must be worn on the production floor; safety shoes are recommended.
• Meets cognitive demands to include visual discrimination/memory, auditory discrimination/memory reading ability, independent decision making and retention of specific knowledge.
• May be exposed to loud noises.
