The Telecom & Wireless Manager for Thomson Reuters Corporate Technology Sourcing organization will provide functional guidance and leadership to the team of Bangalore-based billing administrators, and directly manage a U.S. based resource responsible for wireless account management of the Thomson Reuters Markets (TRM) Division. The manager will also ensure stakeholder needs from finance and technology are continuously met. Key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Serve as an escalation point for TRM and Thomson Reuters Professional (TRP) US-based stakeholders on wireless service, delivery, and telecom billing issues
  • Drive coordinated and transparent custom reporting for finance as and when needed
  • Functionally manage the Bangalore-based bill auditing & processing team
  • Communicate key customer priorities and preferences back into the billing & sourcing team. The Telecom & Wireless Manager should encourage direct category/customer interaction and actively develop solutions.
  • Incorporate customer feedback into the overall strategy and direction for the Telecom & Wireless services provided to ensure continuous improvement in service levels.
DESCRIPTION:

Oversees the negotiating, structuring, and management of contractual documents that establish business relationships with vendors, customers and/or partners. Reviews and approves documents for protection of the company's contractual posture and adherence to company policy. Advises management of contractual rights and obligations and provides interpretation of terms and conditions. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Requirements:
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees. Recommends changes to unit or sub-unit policies. Management reviews work to measure meeting of objectives.
Job Complexity:
  • Works on issues where analysis of situation or data requires review of relevant factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.

Discretion:

  • Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will cause delays in schedules.
Interaction:
  • Normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or schedules.
Supervision:
  • Provides direct supervision to exempt employees and/or skilled, non-exempt employees (i.e., technicians, designers, support personnel). Acts as advisor to unit or sub-units and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

Business Partnership and Relationships:
  • Ensure transparency of telecom expenses and all provisioning process to key stakeholders in our businesses as well as finance
  • Facilitate deep dive circuit audits, serving as a key liaison between category management, billing, and technology teams
  • Design and deliver customized reports as requested by category management, finance, and key customers
  • Liaise between the Telecom Sourcing team and the billing team to ensure new contracts are fully understood at the granular level required to verify application of new rates
  • Participate in negotiations along with Telecom Sourcing Category Management as needed
Drive and Deliver Results:
  • Identify opportunities for savings, improving process, data quality, or consolidation of accounts and partner with the appropriate stakeholders to communicate those opportunities
  • Manage the monthly close process in close partnership with finance; determine accrual amounts needed and allocate telecom expenses for TRM enterprise accounts
  • Review & approve allocated telecom accounts inclusive of certain enterprise data, local & long distance voice, teleconferencing, and wireless services globally
  • Manage wireless account pooling plans/systems for TRM; help support key stakeholders in TRP to prove pooling benefits and reporting
Mentor & Develop Talent:
  • Effectively manages billing & wireless team performance and provides regular coaching and feedback
  • Drives accountability of key metrics and project deliverables
  • Identifies potential process improvements within team and works with management and internal teams to evaluate, prioritize, and implement improvements
RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS:

This position will have one direct report. However, in addition, this role will be required to provide dotted-line functional leadership of two remote telecom and billings employees.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Approval of monthly bills for shared infrastructure (voice/long distance), wireless, teleconferencing, and web conferencing services.
  • Evaluation and preparation of accruals necessary at month end
  • Allocation of telecom expenses at month end
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with SAP ERP modules
  • SAS-FM account hierarchy and coding methodology
  • Negotiation and contracting skills
  • Proven strong analytical, problem solving and quantitative skills
  • Cross-functional team leadership skills
  • Excellent project management skills

  • Knowledge of telecommunications market and various types of enterprise-level telecom services
Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Graduate degree a plus
  • Advanced finance or accounting certifications (e.g., CPA, MSF or similar) a plus"
Professional Experience:
  • At least two to five years of telecom or wireless billing or contract management experience
    • Ideally five to ten years of overall professional experience
  • Finance or accounting experience a plus
  • Strong people and service experience, in particular working with and managing internal customers
  • Success in managing teams in remote locations or prior management experience preferred
  • Success in taking a pro-active approach to problem solving, process improvements, and achieving the targeted results
